Yes. High gas prices are good.
When gas prices are high it forces us to look at other expenses in our lives to cut. This is an opportunity to look at the expenses we really don’t need. For example, how many streaming services do you have? Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and what else? How often are you eating out for lunch and dinner?
No one complains about the rising prices of Nike, Prada, Gucci or whatever name brand you prefer. No one cares that the price of a cars goes up every year. We just keep buying them. We all want to drive some luxury car whether it be a Lexus, Mercedes, Tesla or any other car brand and don’t care about the price. We don’t have our financial priorities set. The prices of the things we need to live like gas and food stay stable. The things we don’t really need keep going up and we just keep paying for it.
According to Consumer Reports as of Jan 2022 the average price of a new car is now $47,000. There are still people that don’t earn that much in a year. The Average price in 2010 was a little over $29,000. No one is complaining about it or blaming the President. We just pay it. Gas prices will eventually go down. Car prices will continue to rise.
Look at the bigger picture. Stay on top of your spending. Avoid being Broke and Clueless.
